Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI)

Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI), founded in September 1997, is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) that advocates for the promotion, protection, and enjoyment of human rights by all. As an activist organization, MUHURI, headquartered in Mombasa, operates at the Coast and Garissa counties—but makes strategic interventions at the national stage. Five core values guide MUHURI’s operation—transparency and accountability, gender parity and de-marginalization, respect for human rights, fairness and equity, and constitutionalism and the rule of law.
