Over 1350 years ago, on the 10th of Muharram just before 'Asr, a lone man stood on the plains of Karbala, blood pouring from his wounds. He looked at the bodies of his loved ones. Tears flowed from his eyes. He looked at the sky, and like a Mu'azzin from a minaret, he raised a call: "Is there anyone who will come to assist us? Is there anyone who will respond to our call for aid?" Surely we belong to God, and to Him, we shall surely return وَتُكَلِّمُنَا أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ But their hands will speak to us, and their feet bear witness, to all that they did.
