ScamBaiting involves replying to the fraudulent emails that plague us; maybe advising that we have won a lottery, or that a huge sum of money is waiting for us, or that a gorgeous, slim young thing has fallen in love with us, etc. This is all advance fee fraud (or ‘419’) and sooner or later, we will be asked to send a fee, usually by instant money transfer, or bank transfer. If we send it, there will be another, and another, until we run out of money. Innocent people are ruined. Tragically, some victims have ended their lives. ScamBaiting serves a useful purpose by tying up Scammers for months, even years, during which time their opportunities to find real victims are diminished.
